Ok I have been here before. We drive a 97 Chevy Camaro given by family friend to my gf. It has juss had the fuel filter, spark plugs and wires, PCV valve, oil change and all of these things done yet when my gf drives it it rides rough when applying gas. As soon as she releases it it rides smooth. Juss the growl its supposed to have. Also it has a rough idle but it putt-putts quite a bit when she gives it any gas. I think its fuel related. I thought it was because of needing the maintenance but it has had all of these things and still this problem. Is it possibly the fuel filter. If you need more info please ask. I think I gave all the info I could but shes tired of riding roughOnly mechanics who know about Chevys?
This sounds like a fuel injector its probably just one bad one. If it was all of them you would have trouble keeping it running. So try cleaning the injector with the stp injector cleaner it may save you a lot of money before going to a machanicOnly mechanics who know about Chevys?
1. It's spelled JUST, not juss. If you want us to take you seriously, at least write properly.
2. You apparently haven't taken it to a mechanic. Why? I'm not sure. But that's what you should have been doing.
Here's all the possibilities. Crossed or bad ignition wire. Bad plug. Worn cam and or valve lifter. Worn rocker arm ball stud. Weak or bad injector. Bad coil. Good luck. ps this may or may not show on a code reader as a direct cause. Easiest solve is to get a reliable garage to check it out on proper diagnostic equipment.Only mechanics who know about Chevys?
could be a bad fuel injector or weak fuel pump.
take it to advance auto, have them hook up the Computer to it and see what codes are displayed,Only mechanics who know about Chevys?
WELL FIRST WHAT FUEL SYSTEM DO YOU HAVE ANYHOW CHECK THE FUEL PRESSURE AND FLOW YOU MAY HAVE PRESSURE BUT NOT THE FLOW SO WHEN SHE ADDS MORE AIR THE PUMP CANT KEEP UP.
toda, this isnt an only chevy type question as it might be common to most if not all cars. the engine is under a totally different stress while hard accelerating than idling or very close to it. a broken motor mount or trans mount would certainly explain the rumble and roughness. a drive shaft u-joint going out can start a harmonic vibration under power load. even the exhaust system can be involved. exhaust flow is at a minimum during idle and slight acceleration but opened up the flow may be jamming against a mostly plugged cat converter and the engine cant breath. presure backs up to the heads in short order and the fresh exhaust from the heads has no place to go. the engine also has many sensors that read crank timing, cam timing, air temps in the manifold, presure in the manifold and much more. all these signals are delivered to the engines "black box" ecm, computer what ever name we want to call it. this unit takes all that ifo and adjusts the engines fuel supply and timing instantly to get the most from the engine. any of these fail and the engine cant adjust correctly and reverts to a neutral adjustment or safety mode. this mode was meant to hobble her to the dealer for help only. ps I am a ford man but built restorod corvettes for several years installing ls2 and ls7 engines etc.
