Why do people keep insisting that Ford's and Chevy's are great cars?

don't get me wrong. i love american muscle cars and trucks. but new fords and chevys just can't stand up to imported cars. everyone knows this, so why do people deny it? they say that japanese cars suck and they're slow, but i'd like to see an Aveo beat a Civic. What do you think?Why do people keep insisting that Ford's and Chevy's are great cars?
Unfortunately patriotism is too blame. Its hard for americans to admit our cars suck. But many imports are made right here in America. Take my Altima for example. Japanese engine technology but made in Tennessee. You can support america and buy import.Why do people keep insisting that Ford's and Chevy's are great cars?

There are so many different models that a blanket statement is to general. There are some relay good American cars and there are some that would make good scrap metal. the trick is knowing the good from the bad.
Tell me what is so great. I've driven toyotas fords and chevys. I don't see what is so great about Toyota. Reliability? My Mercury has over 160,000 and going strong. Our Chevy has over 120,000 with few problems. And why would you race an Aveo and a Civic. You have to atleast compare it to a vehicle from the same class. A Civic would be up against a cobalt. On top of that who buys a Civic for its blinding speed? Give me a break. What is it that they can't stand up to?Why do people keep insisting that Ford's and Chevy's are great cars?
Well its the whole American car's are better because I live in America attitude. American cars are starting to do a much better job making smaller cars to compete in the import market. For years the big 3 (GM, Ford, Chrysler) were competing with each other and did not worried about the import market. now that it is a real threat to their economy they are starting to compete. But it is a little late, since most imports have a good head start.
its true lexus is a japenise cars and there 90 -94 ls 400 is top five cars in history to modern standers truth be told there is more than just american cars there not bad but theres more than just american cars and imports are not bad
Most of the people I know do not say both Chevy and Ford are good. Maybe Chevy and Chrysler or Ford and Chrysler, but the Ford fans detest Chevy's and vice-versa. I have had two Plymouth Horizons, and the first one I sold with 230,000 miles on the original motor, with some minor mechanical work. The second one is almost at 200,000 miles and running strong. Now, those were built in the early 80's, but in the mid-late 90's Ford and Chevy and Chrysler didn't do so well. When this one goes, I'm getting something 02 or later, probably GM, maybe Chrysler, definitely not Ford, definitely not anything else. It's not about quality, it's about tradition, loyalty, and brand. I do feel it is important to hold them up to the fire, to make sure they are not producing junk. I do expect the Big 3 to get up here with the rest of the market. Until then I'll just stick with my used $500 domestic, each of which has lasted me over a year.

BTW, an Aveo to Civic isn't really equal, now is it? How about a Cobalt to Civic?

An Chevy Aveo is a rebadged Korean Daewoo, Not much of a comparison to a Civic. A Malibu or a Focus can leave a Civic in the Dust and not have to shift out of 2nd gear.
well from what i have seen,teenagers are driving 90 percent of imports! Why? im assuming because they are cheap,and they are easily dolled up(if your into that crap)wings,ground effects,neon lights,and sound like junk! people will spend a arm and a leg on their imports for two horsepower,and think they have the fastest beast in town! Whatever! Chevy and ford has a reputation to keep up from back in the seventees muscle car era,and they are doing a fine job,go drive the new z06 vette or the new cobra,and youll wonder why you even considered liking imports! Imports are all about saving gas,the heck with that crap,if you wanna play you have to pay!
