It will crank and fire but will not sustain engine RPM. Im not a novice mechanic, but Chevys are not my specialty. TomIm trying to start a 1995 Chevy 454 cu. in Motor home. Been setting 2 years. Re-placed gas, batteries.?
you shouldn't have just started cranking on it,Im trying to start a 1995 Chevy 454 cu. in Motor home. Been setting 2 years. Re-placed gas, batteries.?
Checked the air intake and exhaust for clogs?聽 Mice could have deposited a lot of crud in odd places in two years!
Carb or Injectors I believe is your problem. but you should check the plugs to .Im trying to start a 1995 Chevy 454 cu. in Motor home. Been setting 2 years. Re-placed gas, batteries.?
will it sustain rpm if you spray carb and choke cleaner down the throttle body while running? if it does you have a fuel problem and if it doesn't you have many choices of what the problem could be

If you want some guidance e-mail me I'll do what I can
First I'd buy a ignition coil because if there not in use they lose conductivity. They warm up and stop the motor from starting.Im trying to start a 1995 Chevy 454 cu. in Motor home. Been setting 2 years. Re-placed gas, batteries.?
I own a shop, and have dealt with this type of issue many times. When one sits like that, the piston rings has a tendency to stick to the pistons, thus it doesn't have enough compression to sustain a run situation. What I do is this; Remove all the spark plugs, purchase a spray can of WD-40, and spray a literal amount into each spark plug hole. Use the whole can, as it won't harm anything. Allow it to sit for about 12-24 hours, and then spin the engine over with the plugs out for about 10-12 good revolutions to clear out any residue left. Install a new set of plugs making sure to set the gap properly first. Also; purchase a bottle of STP (black bottle only) fuel injector cleaner and add to the gas tank. Purchase %26amp; install a new gas filter, and check to make sure the air filter is clean %26amp; not plugged up. Check all the vacuum hoses where they plug on to make sure they haven't cracked, and are sucking vacuum, and that none have fallen off too. This ought to get it back running in no time.

Glad to help out, Good Luck!!!
