CHEVYS, FORD, ETC.HOW MANY TYPES OF CARS ARE THERE?
if you add up the cars that are no longer in production to the cars that are in production, i'd say there are about 5,000 to 10,000 different cars out there. of course, that includes each and every model made. asking someone to list every type of car out there is really too much. cars have been around since 1893. so there are too many to count and no one has that much free time on their hands, and if they do then i feel sorry. im not tryin to say this question is dumb, im just sayin its a lot to ask. and for everyone out there, henry ford did not invent the first car, mercedes benz did. in 1893HOW MANY TYPES OF CARS ARE THERE?
henry ford is credited for making the first production vehicle. mercedes benz had the idea way before ford did, but ford was the first to put it into action. mercedes had created a sort of prototype, which had three wheels and a small 1 cylinder engine. there are only a hand full in the world.

Chevy and Ford are vehicle companies or manufacturers. They are not "types" of cars. A type of car would be a sedan, coupe, convertible, etc.



If you want to know how many manufacturers there are, you need to be more specific. There have been hundreds of them over the years. Some lasted only for a brief period, others lasted a long time but no longer exist. Are you asking about current manufacturers or since the invention of the automobile (or before/after another historical milestone, such as one of the World Wars)? Also, are you asking about a worldwide count or only North American manufacturers ( since you mentioned Ford and Chevy specifically)?HOW MANY TYPES OF CARS ARE THERE?
go on to auto trader.com or autotrader.ca and then search for a car. there is a drop down list of all the makes they have. there are TONS. i dunno if they have all of them, but they do have alot of them.



Those arn't types of cars though, types would be sports car, coupe, sedan, luxury sedan ect... your asking about how many MAKES there are. (just so you know)
