Here is a brief table of the calories in the alcohol. What you are having the alcohol mixed with is were you caloric consideration must rest. Diet sodas with give no additional calories. Same with club soda. Despite what these morons are saying, fruit juices will greatly increase your calories. Some of which will be even greater then regular soda/pop. If you don't want to figure out how may additional calories you will be consuming with a mixer, drink the alcohol neat or drink beer or wine.

Dry white wine is the lowest. But forget it if you're getting into the hard stuff. Your best shot is to drink the hard stuff it with tonics so it hits your system faster and you'll get drunk on less (and therefore less calories!).

Unless the motors been replaced I wouldn't pay that kind of money for it. 200,000 miles is a god estimate for how far any car will go with proper maintenance.How long can chevys go for?

It really depends on maintenance, driving conditions, and luck. I have seen some Chevys go for 200k+, while others die before 100K. In my experience, if a car makes it to 172,000 and still runs good, it will make it to at least 200K without needing any major repairs. Don't buy the car and expect it to be problem free though.
I don't know about that particular engine but I put 370,000 on and '86 1 ton Chevy truck before I had to rebuild the engine it has 390,000on it now with the original transmission and still running good and over 200,000 on an '85 S-10 and an '88 K-5 4x4 blazer. Generally with good maintenance they will last 250,000 give or take. I have a 2002 Silverado with 160,000 on it and my Dad has a '99 Suburban with over 220,000 and they all still run good. most people get rid of their cars at 150,000 I don't agree with that mentality. But I am a mechanic and do my own servicing so I don't notice any more price to keep old vehicle running as apposed to a newer one I would buy the car.How long can chevys go for?

Mileage doesn't matter. What matters is who put the miles there. The 3.4 engine is one of the better GM engines offered and I have one in my 2001 Pontiac Montana that just flipped 100,000. We also have a 1995 Chevy 2500 with 198,000. For anyone to immediately say 172,000 is 'hard use' or abuse, is simply assuming. I will take a properly maintained vehicle with 172,000 before I would take a 2002 with 20,000 on it. It is safe to assume the Monte Carlo has seen alot of highway usage, which is better than alot of city driving. If the vehicle has been taken care of, that is a good deal on the Monte Carlo. You can always get a Carfax on it to be sure. You can also take it to your own mechanic to be fully checked out before you buy it. Any reputable seller with nothing to hide won't have a problem with that. If you don't buy it, let me know where it is, and I will buy it.

But I'm guessing you'd realistically only get another 30,000 miles out of it, if that without rebuilding the engine and tranny. You could always take it to a mechanic and get their opinion.

BMW and Benz products are petty much cars designed for those who do not have to worry about where to get money for a replacement car. At one time the Benz was considered as reliable as a Rolls Royce (which came with a life time warranty). But those days for Benz are gone, and while they have fine designs there is a reliability issue. Remember, Benz is the oldest automobile company in the world.
Now BMW's history in cars goes back to importing technology from Britain. All things British have inherent design problems. This goes back to the auto maker wanting to insure employment by "Factory Trained Mechanics". This tradition has continued to this day and after a set period of time, spares for these known problem parts can not be easily found. The Japanese auto makers are much the same.
With out going into details on Chevrolet, it would be safe to say that BMW, Benz and Chevrolet as far as longevity are concerned are pretty much equal.
Ford is a different matter, I can still get parts for a Ford that most other car makers will no longer provide. I am sure this will solicit "Found On Road Dead" remarks. But keep in mind I own Fords that are over 30 years old (try to find a BMW on the road that old). Henry Ford, was not happy with the quality of many makes of cars, tried to design a car that was reliable and affordable. The short coming on Fords is that they do not have a lot of the "Quality level of trim". Both the BMW and Benz products use some pretty high end materials in the passenger compartment, but for some of us the real leather seats is just one more problem. Such things take more service and in the end a persons rump gets just as tired on leather as it does cloth.
My feeling is this, if you want to get new cars every five years (or sooner) BMW, Benz, and Chevrolet products will do you just fine. But if you want to own a car long term (or are looking to buy used) get a Ford. "Better" in what sense? Mechanical reliability? Availability of parts, service and dealer networks? Quality of workmanship and build? All I can say is that my 1st and only US-made car literally fell apart before my very eyes (1971 Mustang) and that was with proper care and required maintenance. Since then, I have only owned BMWs and have NEVER been let down. True, repair and maintenance costs are typically higher than your average Ford or Chevy, but these are definitely NOT Ford or Chevys. To the guy that suggests BMW, in the 21st century, continues to rely on British auto technology, I have to ask, "Are you in a time warp?" I presume he is referring to the 1927 BMW Dixie which was built upon license from Austin. That's more than 80 years ago! I had a 2000 Chevy Silverado. Almost 200,000 miles on it. Best vehicle we had besides the charger we had years ago. (My mom regrets selling it back in the early 90's when we needed the money. Only about 1500 of them were ever made.....We see it around town in shows and all).
I just sold it to Toyota as part as down payment towards our new Tundra.
I am a chevy girl at heart.
I can't stand Fords. My step dad has a Ford and breaks down all the time and always has problems with it. I hear bad problems with Fords from people with in a year of having it.

Hi my mother was going to purchase a 2006 chevy cobalt ls in white for my brother we found someone selling it for $5,000 but the mileage is 118K. Do you think this a good deal or bad deal and why? If you can get the Cobalt down to $3500 consider it and be ready for maintenance expenses to run the cost back up. For the Corolla, I'd wave $5500 cash under their nose and see how bad they want to sell it. The $6800 isn't bad for a 4 year-old car. Give it a good looking over and have a mechanic thoroughly check whatever car you plan on buying.applebees

Undoubtedly the Chevy drivers in the Chase are excellent. Jeff Gordon, Jimmie Johnson and Tony Stewart are all previous champions and Mark Martin has missed it narrowly so many times. Most of them are Hendrick or affiliated with them, though. They have superior equipment and a lot more money to spend on it than the others. The 48,14 and 5 have really talented pit crews. (I still feel like the 24 crew lets him down a lot.) But I think the main thing is that they can spend so much. GM is still helping and Rick Hendrick has all kinds of money to throw at racing. Ford has cut back, and I won't be surprised when Dodge is shut down by owner Fiat. Toyota is helping their teams a lot, but they are spending judiciously.

Just whatever you do, do not buy a ford power stroke. These are currently the worst motors out there, they are made by international and since they have come out all they have had problems from the turbos seizing up to the main seals blowing out at five thousand miles. Just whatever you do, do not buy a ford power stroke. These are currently the worst motors out there, they are made by international and since they have come out all they have had problems from the turbos seizing up to the main seals blowing out at five thousand miles. Can you bore a pontiac 350 engine to a 383 or just sm block chevys? ?
I know pontiac and chevys are different.. but I'm trying to get the best hp out out my 69 5.7L pontiac. 389 and 455s have become difficult to find or really pricey.. what would I be able to do to compete with a 396 chvy???Can you bore a pontiac 350 engine to a 383 or just sm block chevys? ?
Put the right cam in it and you would be shocked.
I'm the camshaft source for the largest Pontiac race engine builder in the world, and also most of those who make any headlines with Muscle era Pontiac's. Think solid lifters and 108 Lobe Separation Angle cams. Use the right parts and the valve train will not make noise and you will set the lash and forget it. No constant adjustment issues. The Solid has ALOT faster ramp on it than they hydraulic which will put ramp intensity in there. That will allow you to get the job done with much less total 'seat to seat' duration, which will keep reversion out of the intake port and make the cylinder head put ALOT more air into the cylinder because it will make so much more air velocity in the intake port.
How you would cam a 350 is not how you would cam a 389 or a 455. How I cam a 396 Chevy would be far from optimum for a 454 Chevy. I am not simply talking about how you cam them in terms of how much cam duration. I am also talking about the different ramp shapes and ramp speeds, and lobe separation angles. That's why you won't find happiness in buying a cam that says that it will work in a 455 and it will work in a 400, too. LOL.
Keep your exhaust pipe diameter conservative.
Much of what you can do will also come down to how well you seal the ring up and how well you can get the carburetor to vaporize fuel. Hence, it's not all about air flow.
Done right( I blueprint QuadraJets), you won't beat a QuadraJet.
Get your squish clearances between the piston and the cylinder head TIGHT.

Another part of it is the rivalry, you pick what team you like and you have a strong aversion to the other one. For instance, I don't really care about football, but I'm a Wisconsinite and thus root for the packers (WI) and hate the vikings (MN).
And at this time ford is strongly supporting the homosexual lifestyle. I am by no means putting the homosexuals down as individuals, but I strongly believe the lifestyle is wrong. Thus I will not support a company who encourages the lifestyle. There is currently a boycot against ford because of their strong preferance towards encouraging the homosexual lifestyle. Again, I am not putting these people down as individuals. They are loved and created by God, same as everyone else, and as such, they are valuable people. They have just taken a wrong turn.
Back to the ford / chevy deal, when you look at it honestly, there are problems on both sides. No vehicle is perfect and won't break down. Personally, I have been around fords that have had a habit of breaking down, but I haven't been around many chevys so I really can't compare. ...............but I do have my two cents worth to add. 1/2 c margarine; (1 stick) at room temperature
1/2 c masa for tamales
1/2 c plus 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
4 c frozen corn; thawed, divided
3/4 c water
3/4 c cornmeal
1 1/2 ts salt
1/4 c milk
Instructions
This dish can be steamed on the stove top in a large wok with steamer rack or in the oven in a pan placed inside a larger roasting pan. To steam in oven, preheat oven to 350 degrees.
Using an electric mixer, beat margarine, masa and sugar together until light and fluffy, about 10 minutes.
Combine 2 cups corn with the water in a blender container. Blend until smooth. Transfer to a bowl; stir in cornmeal, salt, milk and remaining 2 cups corn. Mix well.
Lightly spread margarine mixture in an 8-inch pan with 2-inch sides. Top with the corn mixture. Cover tightly with aluminum foil. Steam in a large stove top steamer or in oven. To steam in oven, place pan inside roasting pan. Pour very hot tap water inside roasting pan to a depth of 1 inch.

Case-in-point: Had a 1978 Lincoln Continental Town-Car. It's big with a 460 CI engine. Ran great, respectable mileage.
Also had a 1979 Lincoln Continental Town Car with the 351 engine. The smaller motor couldn't really power that huge car well at all. Gas mileage was considerably lower. I'm sure that small (351) motor was worn out way before the 460.
Plus the larger motor gives you more pulling power and a higher resale value when you want to replace it.

I wouldn't say Fords are better than Chevys, like Leanne said. Everyone has their own opinions, I personally don't have a problem with either cars, I just sometimes prefer some Chevys over Fords and some Fords over Chevys depending on which cars they are.

My grandpa had a 1993 Ford F-150 XLT lariat with a 5.0L V8 and E40D Automatic transmission. And during his ownership of that truck from the year 1993 to 2000 he put 712,288 Miles on it And did not have any real issues with it. He changed the oil regularly and even at 250,000 Miles had both the engine and tranny rebuilt not because anything was wrong but just for safe keeping. He also did a complete fluid flush every 50,000 miles.
But none of this is to say this was a pampered truck. At the time he was semi retired and working for a scrap yard for extra cash and sometimes...Often in fact he would pull trailers in the excess of 7,000lbs for up to 1,000 miles, Hauling car parts and what have you between outlets. This truck was well worked but also well taken care of.
And that my friend.....Is why Fords are better.

Are you and your "sister" two separate people, because if so, you need to pick two separate stories and live by them. Your sister is 15, she has a fiance, you know all this stuff about cars, but if she is 15 and you are her little sister, neither of you has ever legally driven a car to know whether one make or another is better. So, when you are a grownup and can drive real, non-matchbox cars, then you can come back and bash whatever make and model you want.
And, to answer your question because I hate when people don't, Chevy's don't always break down. Hence why my family has 3 1970's Novas which still run and I myself drive a Chevy which has only ever has maintenance a few times. Its all about how much you take care of em.

They don't..... even the local ambulance service around here hates them, ford is slow to act on it, and they can't get more then 15 to 30 thousand miles out em before they start to breaking down... even farmers around here prefer chevrolets and still have some from more then 20 years ago hauling more then what the truck was designed for all day... I will never own a F*cked Over Rebuilt Dodge... I'd rather have the dodge if I couldn't get the chevy.... (first on race day= last to finish)

my brother bought a 94 chevy cavalier and he cant find the turn signal flasher.does anyone know where its located at and is it round or square.Question for a mechanic or someone knows about chevys?

It designates the line of the car and its factory. the blue bow tie are for the models that have prior year design in them the gold bow tie shows it's the newer options for that line. For example my 2005 Chevy Malibu is the classic line with a blue bow tie. The design of the car and the options in it are the same from the previous year. They do it to semis all the time, and I've seen the computer "chips " in 4 Wheelin' magazines. Now a days they're is so much you can do electronically it is hard to keep up with all of it. Good luck, and save yourself a lot of 'headache trying to change it back to gasoline

Supporting the American Economy. We all got together in one of our monthly meetings of ALL black people in the country (via Skype, of course) and decided to do this. Just one more thing we do to confuse white people...like that week we decided to start wearing white t-shirts exclusively.

Because of the fact that they consume large amounts of Kool-Aid and Fried Chicken everyday, they tend to make a chemical in the brain make the person become more stylish and better at picking cars, clothes, shoes, etc.

I am experiencing problems with the clutch or trans with a chevys-10 truck?estimates would be great?

Depends on the model. The new Focus and Cruz are equally nice, I like Mustangs over Camaros, Taurus over Impala and Corvettes Z06 Carbon over all of them. Dodge, we have to wait and see what they do over the next few years.
I have the most respect for Ford. When GM and Chrysler went begging to the US government saying that they could not be allowed to fail the Ford management said "we do not need your money, we will make it on our own". They now build the best American vehicle in terms of safety, high MPG, and resale value and they've become a true world class company. I travel frequently on business and have rented Ford, Chevy, Dodge, as well as Honda, Toyota, Mazda, and Kia on many occasions. Based on my experience in terms of safety, comfort, and quality, I'd rate Ford models number 2 behind Honda who still builds the best vehicle. To respond to your other answer, I've quit renting Toyota's totally as they are highly over-rated and basically crap. The Corolla is, in my opinion an absolute piece of junk and I've had 2 of them strand me along the road with failed transmissions.What do u like better Fords, Chevys , Dodges ?

The imports are no longer the reliability leaders, domestics are QUICKLY catching up. Ford is now ahead of Honda and tied with Toyota tho many people won't wanna believe it, there are surveys out there proving it. And I'm sure Chevys are just as good. Who MAKES the car is far less of a factor in reliability than who OPERATES the car. But given those two choices, go for the Impala, it's a better design.Are chevys more reliable now a days?
Every Chevrolet Vehicle sold since 2007 has come with both a 3 year 36,000 mile bumper to bumper warranty and a 5 year 100,000 mile powertrain warranty. Both of these warranties both would keep you covered for quite a while. This also inlcudes most other brands including those that have been discontinued as well a few exceptions such as HUMMER, Buick, SAAB and Cadillac having a 4 year 50,000 mile bumper to bumper warranty. Also the SAAB brand had a 4 year 50,000 mile powertrain warranty as well. I hope this information answers your question.

What does LS mean when it comes to chevys?
Penelope the LS on GM cars and trucks is a trim level nothing more.Im surprised by the number of posters that no very little about this subject.In the recent past they were only a set number of trim levels used on gm cars and trucks.These levels are Base,LS.LT and LTZ. These levels were used for over 20 years.GM has gone crazy for the last few years with its LT1.LT2 and LT3 levels of options.This is nothing more than stupid way of trying to get more money on buying a new car or truck.Best of luck.What does LS mean when it comes to chevys?

I dont know if it is the people writting the comebacks or maybe there just arent any facts out there to support chevy. I dont know if it is the people writting the comebacks or maybe there just arent any facts out there to support chevy. I can understand making the occasional "Ford sucks" comment , every page needs one or two of these statements, but when that is the only argument anyone can present then it makes me wonder.

Dems. vs Republicans,
Harley vs. Imports,

They are all an attempts to get you to close your mind and make you see one side as ALWAYS BAD and another as ALWAYS GOOD.
Even if one side or the other had historically been better or worse, closing off your mind is the beginning of the end of learning.

Chevy's Fresh Mex Sweet Corn Tomalito
5 tablespoons margarine, softened
1/4 cup Masa Harina
1/3 cup granulated sugar
1/2 cup water
2 cups corn kernels, fresh or frozen, thawed, divided
1/2 cup cornmeal
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 tablespoons plus 1 teaspoon milk
In a small mixing bowl, mix the margarine, masa and sugar using an electric mixer until light and fluffy, about 1 minute.
In a blender container, blend half the corn kernels with the water until smooth.
Combine this mixture with the margarine mixture, stirring well. Add the remaining corn kernels, corn meal, baking powder, salt and milk and mix well.
Pour the corn mixture into an 8-inch square baking pan.
Tightly cover with plastic wrap and steam by setting atop a medium saucepan of water on top of the stove.
Bring water to a boil and steam corn mixture for 50 minutes to one hour (check to see whether you might need to add more water), until a wooden pick inserted in the center comes out clean.
Tomalito should have a smooth, moist texture.
NOTE: The pan must be tightly wrapped at all times.
Makes 12 to 16 servings.

they are very american. the auto makers don't control where the fuel comes from...they just make the cars run on it. and if you're asking yourself "well why doesn't GM just start making everything hybrids?" ...because they can't afford to take a gamble right now and lose money, because of all the other anti-american hippys buying little hondas and other garbage. so next time you wonder why there aren't more hybrids, blame the japanese automakers. because GM has more technology than ANY car company out there...it just costs a lot of money to tap into it and use it. money that they don't have right now because the UAW seems to think that they have endless money. if they keep pulling this crap they won't have paychecks at all.
