I feel it is a good truck. If you have sufficient driving experience of driving a truck vs a car that is also a question. The suspension and ride are obviously stiff and bouncy, but are very correct for a truck vs a car. What makes this a good vehicle is that the Chevy 350 engine, or 5.7 Liter, has been around for 50 years, and is well known design. It has been continuously been improved upon. After market parts are plentiful and any shade tree mechanic knows how to work on this engine. Also, being in a rear wheel drive layout, it makes the engine very easy to service, as opposed to a sideways engine in a FWD car.The transmission is also heavy duty, being the GM 4L60E, which is a very high torque transmission. The sheer size and mass also helps you in an accident, because size and mass hurt gas mileage, but are your friend if you are in an accident. Size wins in the game of momentum transfer. If your budget is $40k, and you are buying brand new,vs used, and you want a truck, not a car, this is a winner. Is a chevy Tahoe a good car?
@BMW dominates, the best avenue to pursue about the Chevrolet Tahoe along with any other vehicles that you might be thinking about researching, is to test drive the vehicle so you can personally experience the ride and test out the options and features that the vehicle has.
For the fuel economy information that you are requesting, you can visit the fueleconomy.gov site. I would be happy to assist you with this information if you would like to provide me with the model year Tahoe that you are looking into and if you would like the vehicle to be two wheel drive. I will also need the size of the engine that you would like in the SUV too.
