Are there really lots of vintage American cars in Cuba?

I asked a woman at work, and she said they haven't had anything like that in Cuba since 1959, but I saw a recent documentary on public T.V. that suggested otherwise. There were old 50's model Chevys, Fords, Hudsons, etc. There were also a lot of small family-owned father and son businesses, where they were making custom-made parts from scarp metal and glass. If this is really true, how did the cars get there?Are there really lots of vintage American cars in Cuba?
They imported them before the US embargo. Since they could not get cars any place else they have keep them running. PBS is not the only one to do stories on these cars several car mags have done them as well.Are there really lots of vintage American cars in Cuba?
From what I have read most of them today are just the shell with a Soviet or European Engine under there.



Any original American engines would have 500k+ miles on them by now, probably not many still running.
