when I say older I am referring to my chevy I have a 93 chevy C2500 3/4 ton 350 5.7 and it has a payload of 8600 and the 05 chevy 2500HD 3/4 ton has a payload of about 3,500. I don't get it. you would thin that with newer models and better motors that it would be more up to pulling than older models. wouldnt it?Why is it that the older chevys have a higher payload than newer ones?
8600 is the GVWR of your truck. You subtract what your truck actually weighs from this number, you answer being your payload capacity.
Lets say your truck weighs 6000lbs. 8600-6000= 2600lbs. So 2600 would be your payload capacity...
The newer trucks do have a higher payload capacity than the older ones...Why is it that the older chevys have a higher payload than newer ones?
I think they have had to cut down on power with the newer emissions standards also I don't think that run low gear ratio rear ends like they used. But in 2011 OBD3 comes out and that's supposed to give engines allot more HP and Torque. also they are going to have better fuel mileage. Why is it that the older chevys have a higher payload than newer ones?
8600 is the gvrw not payload that is the legal weight with load i believe including truck its self
