What kind of spark plugs do i need for a 98 malibu?

I just had a guy change my spark plugs today. He said he had to use the platinum ones because he had to, something about Chevys not being able to run on anything else, and something about GM/Chevy specs... what's your take on that? Thanks. What kind of spark plugs do i need for a 98 malibu?
Well, there's 2 different engines available in that car, the 3.1L V6, and the 2.4L Quad 4. For both engines, Autozone only lists 2 AC-Delco plugs each, and they're all Platinum. (That's right, the #12 and the #14 are Platinum too. Look it up. "Electrode Tip: Platinum pad". The other 2 are pure Platinum electrodes, for another $1.50 each.) And I always go with AC-Delco plugs for GM cars, so...

Just don't leave them in for 100K, or they'll be a bear to get out. Have someone turn them out a ways, and then back in again, at 50K.What kind of spark plugs do i need for a 98 malibu?
I'd love to help you but you didn't tell us the brand and part # of the new plugs that were put in your car.

The GM factory recommended spark plugs for your car is as follows: 4-Cylinder takes an AC-Delco Rapidfire # 12 spark plug /or/ An AC-Delco 41-942 platinum plug. Special note: The platinum plug will last 50,000 miles where as a Rapid fire is pretty much cooked @30,000 miles.

A six cylinder Malibu Takes an AC-Delco Rapidfire # 14 spark plug /or/ an AC Delco 41-940 platinum tipped plug.

Platinum tipped ground electrodes resist burning as pure platinum melts at 1773 Centigrade. Platinum is more conductive to high voltage spark than regular plugs in combustion chambers also.

I just hope the person installing the plugs didn't "wander off the dock" and stick just any brand of platinum plug in your car. GM has spent time an energy developing the best spark plug combination for your car. What kind of spark plugs do i need for a 98 malibu?
Could be true. Call a dealer and ask them. Or go to Edmunds.com and ask on the Malibu forum. How many miles did it have on it? The plugs are good in these vehicles for about 100,000 miles. What kind of spark plugs do i need for a 98 malibu?
Chevy's use AC Delco spark plugs. Use whatever the car came with they will work the best. OEM parts
he had to used them cause they was the highest price

and he wanted to charge you a higher price for more like it

might be six types that would work just as well
