Carberator vs fuel injection is one better or worse for gas mileage?

I want to get a 4 wheel drive truck Im want to get either a 95-98 z71 silverado with a 350 engine or a pre 87 silverado with a 350 engine also but they dont have fuel injection but i hear the older model chevys hold up and are easier to work on than the newer ones but I was wondering if there would be any major drop in fuel economy because of having a carbed motorCarberator vs fuel injection is one better or worse for gas mileage?
They stopped making carburetors for a reason, they are outdated %26amp; usually have poor fuel economy along with reduced power output compared to a matching engine with fuel injection.....Not only that when you look at older vehicles they tend to be of higher mileage %26amp; transmissions dont last forever.Carberator vs fuel injection is one better or worse for gas mileage?
The thing about fuel injection is that it maintains (or closely maintains) a 15 to 1 air fuel ratio, by using a computer and injecting fuel to keep the ratio at that, unless it is starting on a cold start, which will inject more fuel and be richer.

So, it is more effient in using fuel, that is why cars have them today. However, how much fuel you save is debatable.

A well tuned carburetor can run pretty efficiently also, but the air fuel ration is not so well controlled, so it can run rich at times and lean at times.

Another thing about carbs, is that when going up steep hills, they tend to run out of fuel, as the bowl is at an angle. Fuel injection, on the other hand, will keep giving fuel no matter how steep the incline.

Older cars and trucks were easier to work on, and didn't have to have all the testers and stuff. And they didn't have all the sensors that are needed with fuel injection, so that wasn't a worry.

I myself, prefer my old 1977 Jeep to newer cars. I know how to work on it and it isn't all that difficult.

So, it comes down to what your want, a fuel injected vehicle that maintains air fuel ratio, and has many sensors that can go wrong, or a carbed vehicle, with variable air fuel ratio, but easy to work on.Carberator vs fuel injection is one better or worse for gas mileage?
Fuel injection is much more efficient than a carb engine. Yes, the older models are easier to work on, but an old one is likely to need much more work. After all, let's say it's an 87, that's 23 years old.

Stick with a late 90s model, you'll be a lot happier with it.Carberator vs fuel injection is one better or worse for gas mileage?
there is goin to a little difference but not major. yes the older are so much easier to work on plus in most cases cheaper but newer are more reliable. but when a newer one breaks down there is so much that you have to check to fix one little problem
Fuel Injected engines have better fuel economy than engines with carbs. Also the 350 from 95-98 makes more power than the pre 87 350.
