Why do they have different cars for road racing?

for the chevys its usually monte carlo but in road courses it is impala and for dodge its charger and avenger why do they change the models? Why do they have different cars for road racing?
They are using the cot for certain tracks this year, the cot (teh car you seen at the road courses) will be used at every track next year, NASCAR is just getting this car ready for 2008 before it hits the downforce tracks Saturday at Bristol you will see the COTWhy do they have different cars for road racing?
Those are models from last year and this year. Some choose to use last years car because of aero.
All the other models you described only turn left. The cars you mentioned in the road races turn left AND right.

I think that is the difference.

Now if only my favorite drivers could figure out how to turn right. Why do they have different cars for road racing?
they have right turn signals
The NASCAR Car Of Tomorrow will be introduced to NEXTEL Cup racing for 16 races in 2007. NASCAR will switch to the Car of Tomorrow for the entire 2008 schedule. What is the Car Of Tomorrow and why is NASCAR switching to it?Why do they have different cars for road racing?
The COT (Car of Tomorrow, which they're switching to full-time next season) is an Impala for Chevy, while the current model is the Monte Carlo.

It's not that they switched it because it was a road race, but because it was a COT race.
they change the cars every year because of the manufacturers choice not because of the tracks. for instance they brought the 2006 intrepid back for one race this year. dont ask me why but they said it was the frontend areo for that track. they brought in the impalas this year to replace monte carols. it would be a drag to watch the montes race all the time wouldnt it?
