Is this true about Chevrolet Cars and SUVs?

I am looking into getting the 2010 Chevy Equinox for my birthday and someone told me chevys are good for the first couple of years and after that they aren't very reliable.

Is this true???Is this true about Chevrolet Cars and SUVs?
good choice! i love the 2010 Equinox. but back to the question. that is just a perception. The past few decades it was true because GM wasn't trying, but now that they are in trouble they are trying extremely hard. The new chevy malibu actually has better than average reliability raitings. Pretty much all new GM products are just as reliable as any other automaker. Plus they look better, drive better and in some cases have better quality. The equinox is the new class leader in fuel economy, quality and surpasses the rav4 or CRV in just about everyway. I say go ahead, buy american and be confident that your equinox will work well for a long time. Not to mention that if it does start to crap out after 2 or 3 years you have a 5yr/100000 mil warrenty on that puppy so no worries. GO FOR IT!!!!!Is this true about Chevrolet Cars and SUVs?
I'm guessing the guitarist is the reason his trannys fail. The th350/400/700r4/4l series are great trannys, and will last forever if taken care of. In fact a th350 in our families 1969 truck lasted all the way through the first 250,000 towing mile motor, through the second 100,000 mile rebuild, and finally gave out at 75,000 miles after a big block had been added. My grand father bough the truck brand new in 69 for towing the family travel trailer. It had only the one job until 92, when it was replaced as a tow rig by a different truck. That is when my brother the teenager got a hold of it. He drove the motor out of it, the sold it to my uncle, who put the two new motors in it.

There was a period of poor adaptation to the new emissions laws, some poor quality years, (82-96ish) and some bad designs in the smaller cars, but overall there is not a better car on the road in their class. In fact most new Chevys are better than ANY competitor. The new ZR-1 will smoke anything under half a mill, and the family of motors that power it is shared with every V-8 Chevy. The Small block ruled the last 50 years, and now the LS will dominate the foreseeable future.
That can be said about the transmissions. It's almost a guarantee that a Chevy trans will fail. However, with most warranties, transmission failure is usually covered when it occurs.

From my experience, the trans will fail around the 50k mile mark, but it will vary. I'm not sure about newer cars, so an Equinox might be safe.Is this true about Chevrolet Cars and SUVs?
Just depends on what you call reliable I have a 89 k1500 just turned over to 302,000 and didn't even have to change a timing belt every 75k-100k like foreign cars.I've had 1 nissan and 2 toyota's all three had major issues before they had 302k combined between all 3.
absolutely not true. i've had a '78 impala that went 385,000 , an '84 s-10 that got rear ended with 290,000, '98 s-10 that has 215,000 and runs great!, a '95 yukon with 198,000, a '00 malibu with 225,000 and still a daily driver, and an '84 4x4 with 350,000. all had original tranny and nothing more than regular maintenance i.e. shocks, brakes, oil, filters, coolant....Is this true about Chevrolet Cars and SUVs?
Chevrolet makes very reliable vehicles, and whoever told you that doesn't know what they are talking about. Probably the most reliable engine ever made is the "small block" Chevrolet V-8.
I have a 1992 Chevy Astro that has 244,000 miles on it, and still going strong. I would drive it any where. I also have a 1989 Chevy S-10 that has 234,000 miles on it. It uses a little oil, but I still get 26 miles per gallon. I think Chevys are great vehicles.
hell no i have owned my 87 iroc-z camaro with zero problems and actually wasnt taken care of and iv had her for about 20yrs. and she runs first turn of the key and has zero starting issues and zero other problems
Its not true, as long as you take care of the car. My brother has an '03 Silverado that the Transmission is going out on, but thats because he never changed the transmission fluid in it.
No, it's not true for all the vehicles they make.
No its not true.
Your friend is very simple minded.
no its not true it depends on how well u take care of the care and how hard u run it
WHAT? NO! chevs are some of the MOST reliable! tell that someone to actually buy a chev
