I haven't had them at Chevy's or El Torito, but it sounds like you're describing arepas. A little round fried corn cake, almost like an unseasoned hush puppy. You can look up a recipe on the web. What is the side of corn cake thingy they give you at chevys/el torito called?
I THINK ITS CALLED THE CORN WALL..What is the side of corn cake thingy they give you at chevys/el torito called?
It's corn cake, and SOOOO GOOOD. You can actually buy the mix now at your grocery store. I usually find it in the ethnic food aisle with Mexican ingredients. If I remember right you just need butter and a can of creamed corn. Yummy! What is the side of corn cake thingy they give you at chevys/el torito called?

this is a review it got: Indeed, this is exactly like Chevy's! I was a bit troubled about the lengthy cooking time and knew it could be accomplished in the microwave in a fraction of the time. These settings and times will differ from microwave to microwave, but I cooked the tomalito, covered, for 7 min. at 30% power and then 4 min. at full power. It came out awesome after only 11 minutes. Experiment, because this stellar recipe warrants being made often!
