Does it still cover your transmission if you have changed the transmission pan or filter before taking it to a certified Chevy place? What does Chevys power train warranty cover?
Most warranties require that ANY service, other than basic oil and filter changes etc, must be done by an authorized service center or dealer. Here are a few excerpts from Chevy's warranty information page:
"What is the 100,000 mile/5-year Powertrain warranty?
All GM cars and light duty trucks are covered. The Powertrain Limited Warranty is 100,000 miles or 5-years (whichever comes first, see dealer for details). It is fully transferable and there are no fees and no deductibles. In addition, the Roadside Assistance and Courtesy Transportation programs are also 100,000 miles or 5-years (whichever comes first). For more details, please visit your dealer or visit the Warranty section on GM.com."
"All the above items are not covered for damage due to accident, misuse, alteration, insufficient or improper maintenance, contaminated or poor quality fuel. "
"As the vehicle owner, you are responsible for the performance of the scheduled maintenance listed in your Owner's Manual. Maintenance intervals, checks, inspections and recommended fluids and lubricants as prescribed in the Owner's Manual are necessary to keep your vehicle in good working condition. Any damage caused by owner/lessee failure to follow scheduled maintenance may not be covered by warranty. Scheduled maintenance includes such items as brake pads/linings, coolants, fluids and filters."What does Chevys power train warranty cover?
heather,
Tanek provided you with correct information. If you are still under your Powertrain warranty I would call your dealer and see if they will still cover your problem even with the work you have already done. If you need anything else just message me. Let us know what you find out, thank you!
